Shirley Harris

Professional School Counselor
Rosa Fort High School

My name is Shirley Harris and I am excited to be serving as one of Rosa Fort High School’s Professional School Counselors.  I have proudly served the students of Rosa Fort High School and the David Williams, Jr. Technical Center since 2012.

I am proud to say that I am a native of Tunica County where I was born, raised, and graduated from Rosa Fort High School. Later, I received my Bachelor’s Degree at Delta State University in Social Science, a Master’s Degree at Freed-Hardiman University in School Counseling, and then returned to Delta State where I received a Specialist’s Degree in School Counseling.

In my role as a Professional School Counselor, I am tasked with supporting our students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. In addition, I am pleased to assist students in planning for their future. Whether it is preparing a student to attend college, entering the military or entering the workforce after graduation, my goal is to ensure that EVERY student is equipped with the tools they need to be college and career ready.

Student Assignment: 11th - 12th Grades

In 2007, I graduated from Mississippi University for Women with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Afterwards, I went on to complete my Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership and Educational Specialist Degree in Counselor Education at Mississippi State University.

In 2016, I became a National Certified Counselor (NCC) as well as a National Certified School Counselor (NCSC).

As a fifteen-year educator, I am truly looking forward to working with each of my students as I assist them with their academic, career, and personal social development.
